This week is Banned Books Week. The aim of Banned Books Week is to draw attention to the number of books that are challenged and banned each year. Book Banning happens around the world and it happens because people decide that a certain book contains ideas that they consider harmful. Unfortunately many of the books challenged contain stories about minority communities and if these stories are banned then the world doesn't get to discover amazing things about that community. When a book is banned members of a community don't get to see themselves reflected in print.
